Creating lasting change and continuity of care in rural Uganda

Mission Mannya is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2023 by a group of Australian doctors whose mission is to provide support, supplies and funding for medical outreach programs targeting isolated communities in rural Uganda

Our aim is to create lasting change and continuity of care by running medical outreach programs on an annual basis

What do we do?

Mission Mannya was established in December 2023 and is a not-for-profit charity focused on promoting health in vulnerable communities.

In particular, Mission Mannya aims to alleviate the effects of poverty and health inequity in Southern Uganda by providing free medical assessment and care to at-risk individuals. This is done through the provision of medical outreach camps, health education, provision of medical supplies and training of local healthcare staff.

Mission Mannya is supported by local and Australian NGOs including St Bernard’s Mannya Health Centre and the Cotton On Foundation. These partners help to assist with prioritising communities and individuals in need, identify the local endemic diseases, and conduct our programs safely and efficiently

Mission Mannya also focuses on preventative medicine and health education in order to improve health literacy and encourage health seeking behaviour to assist the community on an ongoing basis.

“Factors like sparsely distributed health centres, geographical features like; steep hills, rivers and other unfavorable seasonal climatic conditions limit access to basic health care in the beneficiary communities. Therefore, recurrent Mission Mannya medical camps will remain a cornerstone in promoting equitable health care in the vulnerable rural communities.”
